PatchSheridan Fire-Rescue
Sheridan Fire-Rescue is a department that provides both fire and emergency medical services for the City and County of Sheridan.  The department currently employs 32 full-time people; 28 of which are divided into one-ten person and two-nine person crews who operate out of the fire station.  The other four employees, who work in the administrative offices, consist of the following: Emergency Services Director/Fire Chief, Division Chief/Training Officer, Fire Marshal, and Administrative Assistant.  Click here for SFR Members (PDF Format)

This Department has been in existence since the 1890's and has been a full-time, paid Department since the early 1900's.  As of July 1, 1999, the Sheridan County Fire Department, 911 Ambulance Service, and the Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department consolidated their services into one Department.

Our Mission
Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department exists to provide a professional level of fire, life safety, and emergency medical services to the people and property within the area served to prevent or minimize the loss of life, pain, suffering, and property damage.

Our Vision
We will accomplish our mission through prevention, education, fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, mitigation of hazardous materials incidents, and other emergency activities.  The Department will strive to deliver the highest possible level of service with the resources provided.

Our staff includes: 3 Captains, 9 Firefighter / EMT’s, 4 Firefighter / Paramedics, 2 EMT Paramedics, 1 EMT intermediate, 9 Firefighter / Intermediates, Division Chief,  Fire Marshal, and Emergency Services Director and an Administrative Assistant. Staffing for each 24 hour shift consists of 9 to 10 line personnel which staff the fire, rescue and ambulance responses. Click here to see organizational chart.

As well as responding to emergencies, we have a number of other roles and responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is educating the public on fire safety. This education begins with a fire prevention program that we have implemented along with the school system for kindergarten through fifth grades. In conjunction with the school programs, we utilize the local radio station to deliver public service announcements so we may access a broad spectrum of the public served. We offer to the public CPR and First Aid Certification, fire extinguisher training, and child seat installations. Another service we offer is safety and fire code inspections to the residents and businesses of the City of Sheridan.

Sheridan Fire-Rescue opens its doors to the public during Fire Prevention Week, which is held the second week in October, EMS Week held in the last week of May and the Muscular Dystrophy Associations’ Fill the Boot fund raising program which occurs over the Labor Day weekend. During the open house events we offer fire prevention classes and EMS demonstrations such as blood pressure checks, mock extrications and various health tips as well as conducting station tours. However, these are not the only times you may come down and see us. Sheridan Fire-Rescue retains an open door policy so please come down and check us out. We would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have about your Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department.

In case of fire, get out of the house, go to a neighbor and call or ask them to call 9-1-1.
